Karnataka Government Launches Fifth Guarantee 'Yuva Nidhi'

Bengaluru: After rolling out four guarantees, all women centric schemes, it assured to the voters before coming to power in Karnataka, the Congress ruled State government’s fifth guarantee ‘Yuva Nidhi,’ to provide monthly unemployment allowance for graduates and diploma holders of Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively, was given a start at a function held at Freedom Park in Shivamogga on Friday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The allowance will be transferred through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) for those registered under the scheme.

The four guarantees such as free power supply upto 200 units a family, Rs 2,000 cash benefit scheme for female head of a family, free travel for women in State run buses and Rs 10 kg of rice for BPL/Antyodaya card holders were launched by the State Government after the Congress party came to power in May this year.

Addressing the gathering, Siddaramaiah expressed happiness over the implementation of 5-guarantees the party had assured prior to coming to power in Karnataka ‘We have achieved all the assurances and have kept our promises. Such an achievement has never happened in any period.”

Over Yuva Nidhi, the Chief Minister said, “We have implemented the Yuva Nidhi scheme in order to give strength to the future of young men and women so that they do not become disillusioned.”

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in his speech said “We have become a model for the country and we are proud that we kept our word’ and stated that Yuvanidhi will empower youth and will give them the much-needed self-confidence to change their lives.”
