Hyderabad: Ambulance drivers of Gandhi Hospital were confronted by the ghastly sight of a stray dog with a three-day-old girl child in its mouth near the mortuary of the hospital at 10 am on Saturday. The ambulance drivers got the dog to drop the body by throwing stones at it, and informed the police.

Inspector K Srinivaslu of Chilkalguda police station said the body has been sent for post-mortem. “We are checking CCTV footage in the area and are trying to find out if a baby was abandoned in the nearby area.”

The three-day- old infant had teeth marks near the neck region and no clothes. Police suspect the baby was abandoned in the night and the dog must have found it in the morning.
