K K Sreejith was not sacked, says CPM
Meanwhile, Sreejith resigned as marketing executive in the CPM mouthpiece Deshabhimani' on Tuesday.
Kozhikode: The CPM leadership has denied the reports that K.K. Sreejith, Jishnu Pranoy’s uncle, was sacked from the party. “Sreejith has not been sacked. The scrutiny of party membership applications and the renewal of existing membership are under process. It should be forwarded from the local level to the area and then to the district committee,” said CPM Nadapuram area committee secretary T.P. Chathu.
Valayam Vannarkandy branch secretary Sreejith Kandoth too stated the same. It was reported earlier that Sreejith was expelled as he had led the strike before the DGP office in Thiruvananthapuram defaming the government and the party. Sreejith has been the CPM member of Vannarkandy branch for long. “Talks are going on at branch level on the issue. But no action has been taken. There is a set of rules to be followed before sacking a member. That will take time and the news being circulated is false,” said Mr Chathu. But party insiders say that action against Sreejith is only a matter of time.
Meanwhile, Sreejith resigned as marketing executive in the CPM mouthpiece ‘Deshabhimani’ on Tuesday. In his resignation letter, he said that there was a concerted campaign connecting him and Deshabhimani. It would defame the daily and the party and hence he was quitting the post. Sreejith was the former stringer of Deshabhimani at Nadapuram and Vadakara. His father Kumaran, a CPM worker, who was hacked allegedly by RSS workers some years ago, is bed-ridden.
