TS Legal Services Authority releases SOP for legal volunteers

HYDERABAD: Justice P. Naveen Rao of Telangana High Court, who is also executive chairman of the TS Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) on Tuesday released the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the legal aid defence counsel system and guidelines for pre-institution mediation and settlement in commercial disputes.

The TSLSA had prepared the SOPs and guidelines for public purpose and in accordance with the procedure prescribed by the National Legal Services Authority. Justice Naveen Rao said that the SOPs and guidelines would serve as quick reference and guidance for the stakeholders.

The authority is authorised by the Centre to complete the process of mediation within three months from the date of application made by the plaintiff; the period of mediation may be extended for a further two months with the consent of the parties.
