Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been sent to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for its postmortem examination.
Hyderabad: In an unfortunate incident, a 22-year-old intermediate dropout who had resorted to taking sleeping pills to combat his inability to sleep succumbed to a seizure on Friday afternoon.
Police said the deceased, Sadhu Lokesh Kumar, 22, a resident of Shivrampally, moved out of home following an argument with his father. Subsequently, he moved in at his friend’s place in Indira Gandhi Society, Jalpally. His friend reported that he had fallen for a girl who wasn’t interested in him.
“After a point, his depression took over, and he could barely sleep. Thereafter, he resorted to taking sleeping pills to go to bed. It’s the sleeping pills that induced the seizure. His friend did all that he could in order to rescue him but in vain. By the time he got to the hospital, he was declared brought dead. We have recovered the strip of slipping pills from the room,” Pahadishareef inspector M. Shankar said.
The police has registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC, and investigation is on.
