Mass contact man: Dr T M Thomas Isaac

Finance minister Dr T M Thomas Isaac is the ‘mass contact man’ in Pinarayi Vijayan’s team. On June 11, he did what no minister has done before. He indulged in a live Facebook chat on the state’s finances with the public for nearly half an hour. It was on March 24 this year that Dr Isaac launched his first FB chat; then it was on the ‘Left Alternative’.

On June 11, he responded briefly, but in a calm convincing manner, to all questions related to the financial woes of the state; right from falling tax revenues to a bank for the state and Islamic banking, he touched upon burning fiscal issues. Though it was not possible for him to take all the questions, he said that the interaction would be a weekly affair. The chat accumulated more than one lakh views.
