Hyderabad: The chaddi gang struck the city again. Only this time, at a residential area in Bachupally late on Sunday night.

Police recovered CCTV footage from the apartment’s cellar, capturing two men, who were seen wielding video cameras. No property loss was reported by residents, who are in fear of the dreaded gang.

Police suspect that the gang might have been vetting the place before striking.

According to the police, the two men, clad in their undergarments, — which is a signature of the gang — scaled a wall and reached Bhandari Layout in road number 5 of Bachupally at 2.55 am.

“They targeted Sri Rama apartment and scaled the fencing. Two members of the gang were seen trying to climb the stairs from the cellar.

Meanwhile, one of them noticed the CCTV cameras and signaled to the others to flee, following which they left the place. Residents later informed the police and showed them the footage. They were nowhere to be seen in any of the other cameras in the vicinity,” said K. Bala Krishna Reddy, police inspector of Bachupally.

He added that the watchman was fast asleep and did not hear them, as they were barefoot and made no noise, which is typically their Modus Operandi.

The cops further added that they are checking the video camera with which was seen in their hands in the CCTV footage.

Based on the complaint, a case was booked under relevant sections of the IPC and an investigation was started.
