Officials suspect that he was worried over his inability to pay their college fee and committed suicide.
Hyderabad: Unable to pay the college fee of his children, a 46-year-old railway employee committed suicide on Sunday at Malkajgiri.
The victim has been identified as Chanda Raju Gopal, 46, who was was transferred to Malkajgiri from Ramagundam last week, said Ch. Venkateswarlu, sub-inspector of Malkajgiri police station.
“Chandrakala Raju, his wife, suspected something fishy when her husband rushed her, their daughter, and son, to his mother-in-law’s house at Rampur early on Sunday morning,” said the official.
Raju’s wife recently had a thyroid operation and he was due to pay the admission fee for his children, which seemed impossible, considering his meagre salary of Rs 15,000.
Officials suspect that he was worried over his inability to pay their college fee and committed suicide.
When Raju was not answering calls, the worried daughter called their family friend, Teja, a resident of Alwal, to check on him.
Teja found Gopal’s hanging body from the window crack and informed the house owner, who in turn called the cops.
Based on a complaint given by Chandrakala, Malkajgiri police booked a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC and shifted the dead body to a mortuary for postmortem.
