Rights panel report on custody death in a week

Kottayam: State Human Rights Commission chairman Justice (Rtd) Antony Dominic would give a detailed report to the state government within a week on the custody death of Rajkumar, a loan fraud accused.

Justice (Rtd) Domnic visited the Peermade sub-jail and Nedumkandam police station on Thursday as part a of fact-finding mission.

He took photocopies of the postmortem report, FIR, and other documents. He also interacted with inmates of the sub-jail.

Speaking to reporters later, he said the SHRC had registered the complaint of M. Vijaya, the widow of the victim. The SHRC had registered a case immediately after the occurrence of the custody death and sought a detailed report from the state police chief.He had also sought the postmortem, inquest and magisterial enquiry reports, but didn’t receive.

he SHRC chief also asked the government to inform actions taken against 1,129 officers accused in criminal cases.
