Mr Simha while making the request, said the Heritage City was  a hub of tourism, yoga and education and had good infrastructure for industry too. Mr Simha has proposed flights from Mysuru-Goa-Mumbai and vice versa, Mysore - Kochi - Thiruvananthapuram and vice versa,  Mysuru - Hyderabad -Mumbai and vice versa, Mysuru – Delhi- Mysuru, Jaipur - Mysuru - Goa and vice versa, Mysuru - Chennai – Mysuru,  Mysuru - Coimbatore - Mumbai /Delhi and vice versa  and Mysuru - Mangaluru – Mysuru.

Mysuru Airport was upgraded at a cost of '82 crores by Airport Authority of India in 2009 and was inaugurated in 2010.
