K Babu case probe team expanded

KOCHI: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau team probing into the corruption cases against former excise minister K. Babu has been expanded with the addition for four more officials. V.N. Sasidharan, the vigilance SP in-charge of the investigation has issued the order for the expansion of the team. The team has been expanded for the proper accounting of the wealth and assets of Mr Babu and his relatives, Vigilance sources said.
Sources in the probe team revealed that the services of more persons are required in order to visit Tamil Nadu for collecting the details of alleged land holdings of the former minister and his relatives and to scrutinize the large volume of documents collected during the raids in the residence of the former minister and his relatives. The expansion is also viewed as an attempt by the VACB to complete the probe quickly to avoid charges of political witch hunt against Mr Babu.
