National Security Guard officials inspect Mullaperiyar dam

It is mandatory for the NSG officials to visit the dams older than 50 years.

Kottayam: The officials of the National Security Guard (NSG) evaluated the security of the  Mullaperiyar dam during a visit to the site  on Monday morning. The four- member  team led by Assistant Commissioner Anoop Singh spent over one hour at the place following the demand made by Tamil Nadu that the NSG should  take over its security from the Kerala police.

The Kerala officials, including irrigation department executive engineer George Daniel, superintending engineer M.A. Sebastian, assistant engineers Basil Bismi and Shamna accompanied the team. Mr George Daniel  told reporters that the NSG  officials wanted  seating facilities and more lighting for the NSG men  at the place.   It is mandatory for the NSG officials to visit the dams older than  50 years.
