Cricketing actors enthral crowds at Anantapur ground
ANANTAPUR: With the slogan “Say No Drugs and No Plastic”, film and TV stars played cricket at the Police Training College grounds in Anantapur on Sunday for the Crescent Cricket Cup (CCC).
The match is the brainchild of CCC chairman Shakil Shafi who is organising the match in Anantapur and then at Hyderabad to create awareness among youth against drugs and adverse impact of plastics.
A number of actors, artists from Tollywood as also anchors and actresses from TV industry participated in the event. Huge crowds were present to witness heroes Varun Sandesh and Sampurnesh Babu, actress Anasuya, apart from 45 artists of Tollywood and TV industry.
Organisers and artists paid tributes to late film star Krishnam Raju, who passed away during early hours of Sunday before the scheduled match.
Film star Viswa enthralled the audience by hitting half a century. A shot hit a girl in the audience, who suffered a minor injury.
A large number of police, apart from bouncers, kept youth away from their favourite stars.
Shakil Shafi said the next match will be in Hyderabad on November 12.
