Smoke scare on East-Coast Howrah express
WARANGAL: The passengers travelling in the East-Coast express train were panicked when smoke emitted from the wheels of the train compartments near to the Nekkonda railway station in Warangal district on Monday.
The train was going to Howrah from Secunderabad and reached near Nekkonda railway station when suddenly the smoke started emitting from its wheels.
The passengers who noticed the smoke emitting from the train pulled the chains. They immediately got off the train.
The railway officials said that the smoke was emitted from the wheels of the train with binding of brake liners of the train compartments.
Brake binding is a condition where the brakes on the wheels become stuck causing friction and heat and lead to smoke emission. The train was halted for more than one hour and after completing the repairing works it resumed its journey, they added.
It is to be noted that it is the second time the smoke emitted from the East Coast express train. On September 6 also when the train was going to Howrah from Secunderabad smoke emitted from the wheels when it reached near Gundratimadugu railway station of Mahabubabad district.
