PIL on demolition of mosques at Secretariat Complex closed

Hyderabad: A division bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice Bhasker Reddy closed a PIL relating to the demolition of two mosques within the precincts of the earlier Secretariat complex. 

Khaja Aizazuddin had earlier filed the PIL challenging the demolition of the Masjid Dafaatir-e-Muatamadi and Masjid-e-Hashmi as illegal. 

The government informed the bench that foundation stones had been laid in the premises of the Secretariat for the construction of a masjid alongside a temple and a church, and construction was half-way through.

Further, the government pleader said that a similar plea had been disposed of  based on a government undertaking. Observing that orders were already passed in a similar case, the bench recorded the government statement and closed the case.
