Bengaluru: A heroic traffic constable came to the rescue of a car driver, who had suffered a heart attack in the middle of heavy traffic, near the busy Windsor Manor Circle early on Wednesday morning, and rushed him to a hospital just in time to save him.

The police constable, Kumar C. (43), attached to the High Grounds police station, drove the car himself to Mallige Hospital and even offered to pay the initial deposit amount at the hospital for the admission of the driver, Prakash, 55.
Around 7.45 am on Wednesday, Kumar heard a woman crying out from a car seeking help. The car was ferrying her children to school.

Kumar said, “I noticed that the driver was sweating profusely and was gasping for breath holding on to his chest. I told the woman to get down along with the children as fast possible, pushed the driver to the passenger seat in the front and started driving towards Mallige Hospital, which was the closest.”

He said, “Though I have a driving licence, I had no practice driving a four-wheeler on traffic-heavy city roads. But somehow I managed and reached Mallige Hospital within a few minutes.” With the help of the hospital staff, Mr Kumar rushed Prakash to the emergency care. He told the doctors that the treatment should be immediate and that he would pay any initial deposit amount as Prakash’s members were yet to reach the hospital. The doctors admitted him and he was saved.
