KOZHIKODE: Following complaints on misconduct of government staff towards the common public, the department of local administration has issued a list of dos and dont's for the panchayat staff members to follow. "The directive instructs staff to behave respectfully to anyone who approaches them during office hours. Several complaints have been received especially from senior citizens and the disabled on the misconduct of staff at government offices. All attempts are being made to improve the image of government offices among the public," said K.T. Jaleel, minister, local administrative body.
Government employees hold a certain responsibility when it comes to their duties and they are expected to carry out their responsibilities with a certain standard, he added. Points charted in the list include maintaining absolute integrity, devotion to duty, giving priority to the needy and to follow the standard norms of decency and morality. The directive also warns action against officials against whom complaints are received.
