Patient approaches doctor for kidney stones, loses organ

Lucknow: A patient who approached the hospital complaining of stones in his kidney lost the organ itself due to the doctors’ negligence. However, the patient came to know of the folly only at a later stage.

Suresh Chandra is working as a Home Guard at a government official’s house in Kasganj district, Uttar Pradesh. On April 12, 2022, Chandra approached the doctor complaining of back pain. After conducting ultra sound scanning, the doctor confirmed that the pain was being caused by stones in his left kidney and two days later, performed the operation at Aligarh Hospital.

After taking rest for a few days, Suresh Chandra resumed his duties. On October 29, he had a sudden pain in stomach and approached the doctor again. On performing ultra sound scanning, it was learnt that he was not having one kidney.

On inquiry, it was known that the doctors removed his kidney while operating for removal of stones in the organ. Suresh Chandra lodged a complaint with the higher officials about the incident.
