Officials raid chicken, mutton shops

Kakinada: Regional Vigilance and Legal Metrology Department officials led by vigilance superintendent of police P.V. Ravi Kumar conducted raids on chicken, mutton and fish markets in Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Kakinada and East Godavari districts on Sunday.

They booked 25 cases against shops that wrongly weighed their products. Officials said these shops under weighed from 50 gm to even 250 grams per kilo of the product. Many of the shop owners did not even seal their electronic balances.

Officials inspected 12 shops in Kovvur in East Godavari district and booked 10 cases. Eight cases were booked at Jaggampeta in Kakinada district. Seven shops were booked at Ravulapalem in Ambedkar Konaseema district.

Vigilance DSP P. Mutyala Naidu, inspectors Satya Kishore and Ramesh Srinivasa Reddy, zoologist Lakshmi Narayana and agriculture officer Bhargav Mahesh were among those who participated in the raids.
