Anantapur: The attack on an Intelligence circle inspector in Kadapa town two day ago led to filing of cases against two sections on Monday.

Sources said Anil Kumar working as inspector in the intelligence wing of Annamayya district had a quarrel with a group of youths from Assam in Kadapa town. The youths lodged a police complaint against the inspector and some others.

As the issue went viral on social media, the Kadapa town police registered a case against the intelligence CI Anil Mumar, another inspector Nagaraju and sub inspector Shiva Prasad.

The group of Assam youths were working at Mayura Garden restaurant in Kadapa.

Police also registered a case against Mayura Gardens owner Rajagopal Reddy and two others based on a complaint by the intelligence CI.

The issue went viral on social media and CPI state secretary G Eeswaraiah alleged failure of the government to protect the police officers who were “attacked by a restaurant owner and his aides of Assam.”

No action was initiated even after two days of the attack on the inspector at his residence, he said.
