Vishakapatnam: The Vande Bharat Express train, which will formally be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday left for the Secunderabad station, after primary maintenance was carried out in Vizag on Wednesday.

Officials said that on its way from the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai to Vizag, miscreants pelted stones near Kancharapalem and smashed two window panes. Technicians from the ICF on Thursday fixed new panes, following which the train left for Secunderabad at 7.20 pm, officials said.

Divisional railway manager Anup Satpathy inspected the train at the coach care centre, took stock of the modern facilities and inspected the damaged window.

Three persons, identified as Gosala Shankar (22), a rowdy sheeter of Kancharapalem, Teketi Chandu (24) and Peddada Raj Kumar (19), were arrested for pelting stones, based on CCTV footage.
