Grama Sabhas to Meet on Jan 26

Chennai: All district collectors in the State have been instructed to hold the Grama Sabha (village council) meeting on January 26, which is a holiday on account of Republic Day, in all the village panchayats at 11 am and ensure that the people are informed of the venue and time in advance.

The meeting should be held at a venue that had no religious significance within the village panchayat, following the ward rotation system, a directive from the rural development and panchayat raj department said on Friday.
