Hyderabad: A fourteen-year-old boy died after battling for his life in a hospital for five days after he was punched by his 11-year-old cousin. Faizan Bin Khalid collapsed in his house during a fight with his cousin after which he was admitted to a hospital.
The fight started when the younger cousin teased Faizan for losing a Ludo game to him. Doctors said the boy suffered a cardiac arrest in the early morning on Sunday. Police booked a case against the boy for culpable homicide.
The incident occurred in the same area of Mirchowk where a youngster had been punched to death in a UFC style fight, in 2015. The fight between the boys took place on February 6, at their house in Panjesha area. “When Faizan lost the game, his younger cousin started teasing him. Faizan slapped him. In retaliation, the 11-year-old boy hit back,” said P. Shiva Bhaskar, Inspector of Police at Mirchowk.
“He was taken to Esra hospital where doctors said he went into a coma,” he said.
The police is not clear what caused the sudden collapse of the boy and what internal injuries he suffered. “The doctors, who treated him, are clueless as to what led to the coma.,” the inspector said.
Doctors at Esra hospital remained tight-lipped. When DC contacted the hospital superintendent, Dr. Adil, he refused to divulge any details of the patient’s medical condition before his death. Police has booked a case against the 11-year-old boy for culpable homicide under IPC 304.
