HYDERABAD: BJP state vice-president N.V.S.S. Prabhakar alleged that minister K.T. Rama Rao had failed to provide sufficient quantities of drinking water to the city. The water works wing was collecting abnormally high tariff from the poor, he said.

Prabhakar, a former MLA, challenged Rama Rao to show how effectively Mission Kakatiya, to clean up, desilt and rejuvenate lakes, had been implemented in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

As part of Praja Gosha-BJP Bharosa series of street corner meetings, Prabhakar, speaking at Nacharam here on Sunday, said that Mission Kakatiya was a failure in the city. He alleged that electricity distribution companies (discoms) were forcibly collecting Advanced Consumption Deposit (ACD) charges from the consumers.

He said there as high-level corruption in the GHMC office, settlements were being done in police stations. These and the promotion of illegal belt shops selling liquor were the major “achievements” of the BRS government in Hyderabad.

Prabhakar said that the BJP would conduct more street corner meetings where it would expose the misdeeds and corrupt practices of BRS leaders.

Street corner meeting organisers asked the participants to give a missed call to 6359119119 to show their dissent and protest against the BRS government rule.

Nacharam Shakti Kendra in-charge R. Mohan Reddy presided the meeting and booth presidents Lokesh, Sridhar Reddy, Prathap Reddy, Anita, M. Prakash and A. Padma Reddy were present.
