AICTE for closure of three Tamil Nadu colleges
Progressive closure means the institution cannot admit students for the first year during the next academic year (2016-17).
CHENNAI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has given its nod to close down three technical institutions in Tamil Nadu. St Johns College of Engineering at Pennathur, Vellore district, Vel Sri Ranga Sanku College (MCA) and Vel Tech Ranga Sanku Arts College both at Morai in Tiruvallur district, have got the approval from the council for progressive closure.
Progressive closure means the institution cannot admit students for the first year during the next academic year (2016-17). However, the existing students will continue to study at the college.
Eight colleges have got approval for closing 12 under graduation and postgraduation courses from next year. Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Power Electronics and Design and Software Engineering are some of the courses which will beclosed.
It also released the approved technical institutions list on Thursday. In all, 527 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu got the AICTE’s approval for the next academic year 2016-17.
