Over 25 students injured as school bus topples near Salem

Over 25 students who suffered injuries were taken to the Athur Government Hospital for treatment.

Salem: Over 25 students suffered injuries after the school bus they were traveling in toppled near Athur in Salem on Wednesday.

The bus was proceeding to a private school in Athur after picking up around 50 students from Malliakarai, when the mishap happened. As the driver lost control of the vehicle near Mottur ‘pirivu’ road, the bus turned turtle on the roadside.Members of the public who were passing through that way rescued the school children on hearing their loud cries, said sources.

Over 25 students who suffered injuries were taken to the Athur Government Hospital for treatment. Some members of the public, who saw the mishap, blamed the driver for his reckless driving.  The Malliakarai police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the bus driver Perumal, who is on the run. Further investigations are on.
