Thrissur: Country bomb hurled at police driver's house

The trelis work in front of his house was damaged in the impact of the blast.

Thrissur: A country bomb was hurled at the house of a police driver attached to Viyyur Police station during midnight on Thursday at Avanur. The house of V.T. Manoj who had taken part in several operations to arrest goons was attacked. No one was injured in the incident. Manoj said that two persons who came on a bike hurled the bomb at his house and as soon as he came out of the house after hearing the blast, the two men escaped from the spot. The trelis work in front of his house was damaged in the impact of the blast. The Medical College police have registered a case.

In a similar incident, the house of a chicken trader, Kunnamkumarathu Tijo at Aranattukara church, working at Sakthan Thamburan Market was attacked by two unidentified persons on Friday morning at 10 a.m. After threatening the family members of the trader, a cracker similar to a ball was hurled through into his yard by the persons who later escaped from the spot.

West SI P.V. Sindhu told DC that the two persons who came on the bike wanted to speak to the trader but he refused to speak to them and later they threw the cracker into the courtyard of the house. Such crackers are designed in such a way that they explode as they soon as they hit the ground. There were no casualties or damage after the cracker exploded. A case has been registered.
