Athirapally power project: Find consensus, says Oommen Chandy
M.M. Hassan said in Thodupuzha that the party was against the project and would protest if the government proceeds with it.
KOZHIKODE: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy does not oppose the Athirappally project though some other Congress leaders have expressed reservations over it. “The project need not be discarded as such but there should be more discussions,” he told reporters after attending the palliative nurses association’s state conference here on Saturday. “The government should not take any decision unilaterally. There should be more talks to find a consensus. There are differences of opinion among the ruling parties on the project and there are people who support and oppose it. The discussions should be open,” Mr Chandy said.
However, Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has opposed the project. “Chandy and I have the same opinion that the government should not take any decision unilaterally,” he said. KPCC president M.M. Hassan said in Thodupuzha that the party was against the project and would protest if the government proceeds with it.
