Dharmana flays Naidu on north Andhra irrigation projects

 Visakhapatnam: Revenue minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu should feel ashamed of himself for not completing a single irrigation project in north coastal Andhra, though he had been the chief minister of AP for 14 long years.

Addressing a press conference in Srikakulam on Saturday, Prasada Rao maintained that former chief minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had been the architect of irrigation projects in north coastal Andhra. His Jalayagnam witnessed initiation of projects like Thotapalli, Vamsadhara and Mahendra Tanaya offshore project in Tekkali.

“Now, Chandrababu Naidu is questioning YSRC government why projects have not been completed. First, he must explain what he did in 14 years,” the revenue minister remarked.

He explained that YSRC government has completed four years, of which two years went in dealing with Coronavirus pandemic. Yet, the present government under the leadership of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has completed 97 per cent of the Vamsadhara project. It will be dedicated to the nation in December this year, he asserted.

The minister underlined that the Chief Minister is discussing development of an additional barrage at Neradi with his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik.

The CM is also making serious efforts to mitigate the chronic kidney ailments in Uddanam area of Srikakulam. Jagan Mohan Reddy has initiated a project to get potable water from Gotta Barrage at Hiramandalam, after experts observed that groundwater is causing the kidney ailments. A trial run of this project has been completed. The Chief Minister will shortly inaugurate the project, Prasad Rao added.
