Thiruvananthapuram:  The railways’ refusal to withdraw the increased fares in Rajadhani, Shatabdi and Duronto Express will badly hurt the long-distance travellers, especially Malayalis,  according to KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran. “Instead of running more trains to meet  the heavy rush of passengers during the festival season, the railways are exploiting  Malayalis by bringing in anti-people polices,” said Mr Sudheeran in a statement here.

In another statement, he said the centre was destroying the rubber farmers although Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to stop the crash in rubber prices. The prices were falling further, he said and asked the  centre to withdraw its anti-farmer policies. He further urged  it to stop the import of  rubber, earmark  Rs  500 crore under the price stability fund, distribute the  subsidy given by the Rubber Board on time and also implement the  policies envisaged by the  board for the farmers.
