Krishnagiri: An alert parent who questioned their mentally depressed son has admitted the boy here in the government medical college and hospital (DGMCH) after coming to know that he was addicted to the online 'blue whale' game.

"He was mentally disturbed on Monday night and also abused us when questioned about his behavior," 40-year-old Madesh told DC.

Madesh, a farm hand and native of Pootukaran Thoppu in Indur police limits of Dharmapuri added, “Injuries in the tip of his finger showed that something was wrong with my son Karthik."

His parents took him to the DGMCH, where the boy told doctors that injury in the tip of his finger was caused by him to continue playing the next level of the killer game.

The “13-year-old-boy studying in the government school was lured by moderator of blue whale to make him rich, if he successfully completes the game till the last stage,” P. Amutha, police officer for Indur said.

The police officer further told DC that “the boy completed level 15 and was introduced to the most dangerous game by his friends whose identities the boy refuse to give.”
