Huge inflows to irrigation projects and rivers as heavy rains in upstream

ADILABAD: The flood situation is grim in the erstwhile Adilabad district, with irrigation projects and rivers receiving huge floodwaters from upstream. The streams and rivulets are flowing high with the rain that has been lashing for the last three days.

The rainwater entered the low-lying areas, and rainwater overflowed the tanks and entered agricultural fields.

Projects are receiving heavy floodwater and standing crops suffered damage. There is heavy rain upstream in Maharashtra.

The rivers Pranahita, Godavari, and Penganga are flowing high with floodwater. The water flow increased in the Godavari and one can see this at Basar, where flood water entered the Godavari from bordering Maharashtra.

The rains hit at various places in the erstwhile Adilabad district and streams and rivulets are flowing high with the floodwater. This affected the road connectivity to the many villages that were located on the other side of the rivulets and streams.

The floodwater entered agricultural fields and standing crops inundated in Ankoli and Tantoli villages in Adilabad mandal. Kerameri and Asifabad and many other mandals also witnessed flood.

Officials are supervising the flood-like situation in the erstwhile Adilabad district. Dinda village was surrounded by floodwater in Dahegoan mandal.

The flood water entered villages in Vemanapalli and Kotapalli mandals and the overflowing Bhathukamma vagu breached the approach road to NH-63 at Chennur. The officials concerned diverted the traffic to other routes.
