Four get railway Man of Month' safety awards

 VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada divisional railway manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil on Tuesday presented General Manager’s “Man of the Month” Safety Awards to four employees of the division for being alert and taking timely action to check unsafe situations.

The Vijayawada division employees who received the awards for the month of August 2023 are:

M. Venu, an LPM, who discovered a rail breakage and prevented mishap involving New Delhi-Chennai Grand Trunk Express on August 16.

G. Durga Prasad, Sr. Tech, who noticed IV couplers of a train hanging and rubbing rails of a train on at the platform in Vijayawada station on August 24.

Srinivasa Rao, track maintainer, who found a crack at a major bridge and O. Anil Kumar, Tech, who found heavy smoke and sparks emanating from a goods train passing Ongole station, thereby averting a major mishap.

South Central Railway (SCR) general manager Arun Kumar Jain, along with principal heads of departments from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, and DRMs of Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions participated in the function virtually.

Speaking on the occasion, Arun Kumar Jain instructed officials to accord top priority to safety of train services. Narendra Patil congratulated the staff for ensuring safety.
