Anti-liquor march on October 23 in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The Anti-Prohibition council headed by Archbishop M. Soosa Pakiam and former KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran will hold a Secretariat march on October 23 against liquor policy of the state government. Archbishop Soosa Pakiam and Mr Sudhe-eran while addressing a press conference here on Thursday said the march will begin from the Museum compound at 10.30 am and end in front of Secretariat. Spiritual leaders from various religions and social and cultural activists will take part in the march.

Though, the spiritual leaders from various religions had earlier organised an agitation, the state government was not heeding to demands of the prohibition activists, said the archbishop. The reason given for doing away with the UDF liquor policy was that it had adversely affected the tourism industry. However, the statistics disproved it. The government is acting as per the interests of the liquor lobby, said Mr Sudheeran.

Meanwhile, Sudheeran said that he was not ready to make public comments on the solar scam. He was speaking to reporters querry at the press conference organised to announce the strike against the liquor policy of the UDF government. He said that organisational matters would come up for discussions during the meeting with the high command on Friday. The present list of KPCC member submitted by the State leadership to the high command was not final, said Mr Sudheeran said.
