CM Pinarayi Vijayan praises social services of Catholic Church
CM complimented the Syro-Malankara, Syro- Malabar and Latin denominations of the Church for their activities
Kottayam: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has hailed the social service and humanitarian activities being conducted by the Catholic Church in the state. He was inaugurating the concluding ceremony of the ‘Year of mercy’ organised by the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC), the justice, peace and development commission and family commission at the Chaithanya pastoral centre, Thellakom, on Saturday.
Mr Vijayan complimented the Syro-Malankara, Syro- Malabar and Latin denominations of the Church for their activities as per the example set by Christ himself. Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malankara Church, Cardinal Baselios Mar Cleemis, presided over the function. Thiruvananthapuram Archbishop DR M. Soosa Pakiam, Kottayam Archdiocese Archbishop Mar Mathew Moolakkattu and Archbishop Thomas Mar Koorilose among others were present on the occasion. Earlier, the concluding rally of the ‘Mercy year,’ which began from the Thellakom Holy Cross School, reached the Chaithanya pastoral centre in which thousands of laity and priests participated.
