Kochi: A day after CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan justified  Zakir Hussain, the  disgraced CPM leader and Ernakulam district sports council president,  the Eloor police  on Saturday registered a fresh case against him in a money deal. He has been named as the second accused in an FIR filed on the basis of a complaint made by George Deepak of Eloor, an IT professional. Second-hand car dealer Niyas Vattekkunnu is the first accused.

Deepak complained that Zakir was involved in a money deal worth Rs 1.5 lakh. Deepak  had bought a second-hand Maruti Swift car from Niyas and it met with an accident. After the accident,  the first owner  took away  the car without Deepak’s  permission.  When he  sought the money back from Niyas,  he refused. George complained that Rs 1.5 lakh was due but at the instance of Niyas,   Zakir threatened him,   called him to the CPM office at Eloor and said that only half the amount would be paid to him.

The court slapped section 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and various other sections of IPC. According to the police,  the incident happened two months back when the complainant came to the Eloor police station and filed the complaint.  Zakir is at present absconding and his anticipatory bail plea is pending before the Kerala High Court. The court is set to consider the plea on Monday.
