THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Aruvikkara Congress  MLA  K. S. Sabarinathan is facing a strange problem in his constituency. Some people howl at him whenever he passes through the area at night. He doubts that the DYFI youths are doing it to cow him down.  In a Facebook post, he has requested the hooligans  not to howl at him in the dark.  He thinks that they are trying to  implement the ‘Kannur’ model in Aruvikkara and has  urged the Left leaders to solve  the issue. Ever since Sabarinathan won the  by-election and later the 2016 Assembly elections, the local CPM youths of  Pandiyodu have been giving him a hard time.

However, he was undeterred.  He  told DC that the other day when he was passing through the area at night, the local DYFI youths howled at him ‘religiously.  “It is nothing but intolerance when every Indian citizen has  the right to  move around,” he said. “After I posted my comments,  a local youth wrote negative comments. Even  during day time,  these youths  block my car by parking their motor bikes,”  he said. He recalled that his late father G. K. Karthikeyan  too faced similar issues in the  then Aryanad constituency.   CPM district president Anavoor Nagappan told DC that the issue had not come to his notice so far. But he maintained that if the DYFI youths wanted, they could protest against him all over the  constituency. “We will not tolerate such behaviour if the DYFI youths are behind it. But I understand that Sabarinathan is facing problems within his own party,”  he said.
