Sankaranti tradition marks Bhogi festival in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: The traditional Sankranti celebrations organised by Andhra Pradesh state government attracted the citizens. The venue at A Convention Centre was designed portraying village nativity and traditions as Sankranti is festival of farmers. Gangireddulu, Rangoli, Sankranti Gobbemmalu and other traditional forms stole the show.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu flew a kite at the venue and participated in the traditional rural sports. On the occasion, Mr Naidu said that Sankranti is a traditional heritage festival of Telugu people and the government is trying to preserve this culture for future generations.
Mr Naidu said that festivals are meant for recreation and fun, government is motivating the people to celebrate festivals by offering free gifts to the people below poverty line.
He said that one should not forget his mother and native village as both play a vital role in our growth. Mr Naidu asked the citizens to talk less and work more.
Amaravati is turning to be lucky for the state, said Mr Naidu.
Addressing a crowd at Sankranti Sambaralu here on Friday, he said that key projects like Pattiseema and Secreteriat have been completed on time and become successful with the name strength of Amaravati.
He said that Machumurri project brought prosperity to Rayalaseema. The CM assured that the government will work for the development of Pulivendula. Meanwhile, Sankrati celebrations had brough a new look to the city. Voluntary organisations and political parties have organised Sankranti celebrations on Friday.
