Joint seat allocation rules in IITs, NITs in March
The memorandum was signed by Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi of IIT Madras and Prof. Y. Udaykumar of MNIT, Jaipur.
Chennai: The rules for joint seat allocation to over 90 institutes including IITs and NITs will be finalised by March, JEE (advanced) organising chairman P.B. Bisht said in a release on Monday. The seat allocation will be jointly conducted during June-July 2017.
“In a recent meeting of Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) at IIT Madras, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) at IIT Madras and Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) at Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA),” the release said.
The memorandum was signed by Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi of IIT Madras and Prof. Y. Udaykumar of MNIT, Jaipur. According to the agreement, for admission to the technical institutes, a candidate must secure at least 75 per cent aggregate marks in class 12 (or equivalent) board examination.
Since there is a significant variation in the percentage marks of toppers among boards, the category-wise top 20 percentile score of successful candidates of each board will be used as an alternative for the benefit of the candidates.
