Telangana to document forgotten step wells in the state: HDF
Hyderabad: A book documenting the important step wells in the state, ‘The Forgotten Stepwells of Telangana,’ will soon be released by the Hyderabad Design Forum (HDF). The HMDA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the project with the Jawahalal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University.
The HDF has identified 110 step wells to be featured in the book. HDF president Yeshwant Ramamurthy said the focus was to document unknown yet significant step wells. He said ten architects had been conducting the research.
Arvind Kumar, special chief secretary, MA&UD, said the restoration of the Moazzam Jahi Market showed the government the enormity of the work of restoration but also gave confidence to take up restoration of more structures.
