Madhusoodanan Namboothiri is new Guruvayur head priest

Thrissur: Madhusoodanan Namboothiri, 46, was selected as the new head priest of Guruvayr Sri Krishna temple on Monday. He was selected by a draw of lots. Mr Namboothiri belongs to Panagattukara Pallissery Mana of Wadakkanchery. As many as 44 people had applied for the post and 39 were shortlisted by tantric experts associated with the Guruyaur Devaswom for draw of lots.

Before taking charge as the head priest on  the night of March 30, Mr Namboothiri will pray at the temple for 12 days. At present, he is the head priest of Viyyur Shiva Temple of Cochin Devaswom Board and has previously served as the head priest of Chottanikkara Karthyayani Temple.
