Thiruvannur AUP school shut down on Kerala High Court stay
School has been temporarily closed down after its former manager acquired a stay order.
KOZHIKODE: The students and teachers of Palatt Nagar A.U.P. School in Thiruvannur are once again forced to move out over the legal tangle it has been embroiled in for the last few years. The school has been temporarily closed down after its former manager acquired a stay order from the High Court. The government that acquired the property when he tried to shut it a year ago turned inactive, which came handy for him. He moved the court saying the compensation the government offered was very low. Based on his plea, the court on March 1 ordered to maintain status quo, allowing him to close it down.
On Monday, teachers, students and their parents with the help of people’s representatives and residents held a march to the school seeking “justice for the students.” “The court will hear in detail both sides, and till then students will be left with no option other than finding some other place to study,” said Dr M.K. Muneer MLA.
“Arrangements will be made to shift them to the nearby school, but we are planning a much serious protest to protect children’s rights.” Sreeja Nambissan, a parent, said the school was reopened after repairs during the last month and now students are told to go back to the Thiruvannur BRC where they were earlier shifted. “The authorities are playing with their future,” she said.
