Andhra University holds Ambedkar Run'
As part of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Ambedkar, Andhra University organised “Ambedkar Runâ€on the RK Beach Road.
Visakhapatnam: Vizag MP K. Haribabu said people in the country should be proud that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was an Indian, whose birth anniversary would be observed by the United Nations on Thursday for the first time.
As part of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Ambedkar, Andhra University organised “Ambedkar Run” on the RK Beach Road on Wednesday and Mr Haribabu took part in it.
“Being an architect of the Indian Constitution and Dalit rights activist, Dr. Ambedkar’s services towards upliftment of the downtrodden and weaker sections are remarkable,” said Mr. Haribabu.
AU interim V-C Prof. E.A. Narayana said they recently inaugurated the “Centre for Dr. BR Ambedkar Studies”, the first of its kind in AP, in Andhra University, to study the life and contribution of Dr. Ambedkar. “UGC granted Rs 35 lakh for the study centre and it would help propagate the policies of Ambedkar among common people.” said Prof. Narayana.
Director of the "Centre for Dr. BR Ambedkar Studies", Prof. Yalamanchili Satyanarayana, said that more studies would be conducted on Dr. BR Ambedkar and his philosophy through the centre. “
