It is no rule of kings, says CPI leader K K Sivaraman
Mr Mani's reaction was in the context of the eviction of the encroachments at Munnar by Deviulam sub-collector Sriram Venkitaraman.
Kottayam: CPI Idukki district secretary K.K. Sivaraman has taken a dig at Electricity Minister M.M. Mani saying that 'Thampuran Vazhcha' (rule of king) had long ago ended in the state. He was responding to Mr Mani’s statement at Vannapuram near Thodupuzha the other day that the LDF had not given absolute right over some ministries to any particular party. Mr Mani’s reaction was in the context of the eviction of the encroachments at Munnar by Deviulam sub-collector Sriram Venkitaraman.
The CPM local leadership, including a panchayat member of Devikulam, had prevented the revenue officials from carrying out the eviction on Wednesday.Mr Sivaraman told DC that democracy prevailed in the state and that the LDF was taking decisions on the basis of collective discussions. He criticised the CPM workers for preventing the revenue officials from doing their duty. Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekaran also extended his support to the sub-collector Sreeram Venkatraman for removing the encroachments and congratulated him on his strong action.
