Telangana, Andhra Pradesh to get heavy rainfall

Hyderabad: With the southwest monsoon settling in, the India Meteorological Department has extended the heavy rainfall warning for Telangana till June 18. IMD director-general K.G. Ramesh said that the heavy to extremely heavy showers expected to pour in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where the sout-hwest monsoon is active. He said that there was a low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal. Favourable conditions were also developing for the monsoon to further advance into the remaining parts of coastal AP.
“A trough on the sea level chart runs from Chhattisgarh to south Tamil Nadu across Telangana and Rayalaseema. This is causing heavy rainfall in the two states,” Mr Ramesh said. There has been a drop of nearly 10ºC in the maximum temperature since June 1. The IMD said heavy rain was very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana state, up to June 18. The warning for coastal AP said heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places in Srikakulam , Vizianagaram, Visaka-patnam, East and West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur.
