TS a model in women's welfare: MLA Challa Dharma Reddy
WARANGAL: Telangana state has stood as a model for the entire country in women’s welfare. From newborn girl babies to elderly women, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has introduced several schemes for the welfare of women in the state, said Parkal BRS MLA Challa Dharma Reddy.
The MLA, along with collector Siktha Patnaik, participated in ‘Telangana Women’s Welfare Day’ observed as part of Telangana Formation Day decennial celebrations at Durgampet village of Duggondi mandal in Hanamkonda district on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharma Reddy said that unlike in any other state, the Telangana government introduced schemes like KCR Kits, KCR Nutrition Kits for pregnant women, Amma Odi and Arogya Lakshmi to build healthy Telangana.
The Kalyana Laksmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes helped check female foeticides and child marriages apart from decreasing the burden on the parents of girl children in the state, he said. Pension to single and elderly women and tap water to every household through Mission Bhagiratha have ridden women of problems, he added.
The credit for giving the highest salaries to Anganwadi and Asha workers goes to the Chief Minister only. Telangana stands first in achieving women's empowerment.
For introducing some more welfare schemes, the womenfolk in the state needs to support the BRS party in the upcoming Assembly elections, he appealed.
