Triangular love claims two lives in Vizag
Visakhapatnam: A purported ‘love affair’ involving three persons including a minor ended in tragedy here as two of them, including the girl, died by suicide. The third person has been arrested and sent to judicial remand.
Police said the girl, a 17-year-old Intermediate student, was a resident of Kothapalem under Gopalapatnam police limits. She allegedly developed a relationship with Seepana Surya Praksasa Rao, an unemployed youth from Adarshnagar, according to the police. She also got close to Lenka Sai Kumar of Indira Colony, sales executive in a gold ornament company, police said.
Police said the minor and Sai Kumar ‘married’, with the sales executive tying the mangalsutra without any rituals. The ‘marriage’ was kept under wraps.
Police said recently Prakasa Rao and Sai Kumar gave her an ultimatum to select one of them. On August 10, she died by suicide at her home. Her father lodged a complaint against both men with the Gopalapatnam police.
Following this, Surya Prakash, the unemployed youth, died by suicide at the Gopalapatnam station, on Friday. His parents identified the body on Saturday.
The police arrested Sai Kumar and produced him in a court. He was sent to judicial remand.
“She treated these two men as her brothers and never indicated that she was in love with them,’’ claimed her first cousin, who works for the Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation. He told Deccan Chronicle that the victim had won a gold medal for topping the first year exams.
Another person close to the family said the marriage video surfaced after her death. He said she never went out other than to her college. “We wonder how she came in contact with these two men,’’ he said.
