Ganesh immersion to take over roads in Hyderabad
Police orders traffic diversions for immersion procession on Thursday.
Hyderabad: Hyderabad traffic police to lock down the entire Necklace Road and surrounding areas leading up to parts of Secunderabad and other parts of city for the final Ganesh immersion on Thursday. Traffic diversions and restrictions will be in place from 9 am on September 15 till 8 am the next day.
The main procession starts from Keshavagiri and passes through Alia-bad, Nagulchinta, Charminar, Madina, Afzalgunj, MJ Market, Abids, Basheerbagh, Liberty, Tank Bund, NTR Marg. This year, the Khairatabad Ganesh is expected to be the first idol to be immersed at Tank Bund; it used to bring up the tail end every year.
Smaller processions join the main procession at some junctions. The procession from Secunderabad passes through RP Road, MG Road, Karbala Maidan, Kavadiguda, Musheerabad crossroads, RTC crossroads, Narayanguda crossroads, Himayatnagar Y Junction and joins the main procession at Liberty.
Another stream that comes through Uppal, Ramanthapur, Amberpet, Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital joins this stream at RTC crossroads.
No traffic other than the procession will be allowed on these routes.
The only route to cross over between western and eastern parts of the city is through Bashe-erbagh Junction. Police advised commuters to use the Ring Road and Begumpet area to avoid diversions.

Hyderabad East: Chanchalguda Jail crossroads, Moosarambagh, Chaderghat Bridge, Salar Jung Bridge (Shivaji Bridge), Afzalgunj, Putlibowli crossroads, Troop Bazaar, Jambagh crossroads, Andhra Bank Koti.
Hyderabad West: Tope Khana Mosque, Alaska Hotel Junction, Osmangunj, Sankerbagh, Ajanta Gate near Exhibi-tion Grounds, Abkari Lane, Taj Island, Barthan Bazaar, AR Petrol Pump at KLK Building.
Hyderabad Central:
Chappel Road entry, Gadwal Centre at General Post Office, Shalimar theatre, Gunfoundry, Skyline Road entry, Bharat Scouts & Guides Junction in Domalguda, Kalanjali at Control Room, Liberty Junction, MCH Office Y-junction, BRK Bhavan junction near Telugu Thalli Junction, Iqbal Minar, Ravindra Bharati, Dwaraka Hotel junction, Khairatabad junction (Visweswaraiah Statue), Children’s Park, Viceroy Hotel junction, Kavadiguda Junction, Musheerabad crossroads, RTC crossroads, Katta Maisamma temple at Lower Tank Bund, Indira Park Junction.
Hyderabad North (Secunderabad):
Traffic will not be allowed to enter Necklace Road and Tank Bund from Karbala Maidan, Buddha Bhavan, Sailing Club, Nallagutta Junct-ion. CTO, YMCA, Para-dise crossroads, Patny crossroads, Bata crossroads, Adavaiah crossroads, Ghansmandi crossroads.
RTC city bus services:
When the procession is in full swing, RTC buses will not be allowed beyond the following junctions towards Hussainsagar: Masab Tank (Mehdipatnam buses); VV Statute (Kukatpally; CTO, Plaza, SBH, Clock Tower, Chilkalguda crossroads (Secunderabad); Ramanthapur TV Station; Gaddiannaram, Chaderghat (Dilsukhnagar buses); Danamma Huts (Rajendranagar); IS Sadan (Midhani); YMCA Narayanguda (Inter City services); Tarnaka.
Police said no RTC bus would be allowed beyond Tarnaka Junction towards the Jamai Osmania flyover.
