Bellary: A video of a farmer who is trying to commit suicide by consuming poison in a village in Bellary, Karnataka, has gone viral on social media because the man was allegedly made to act out the scene by camera persons.

According to a report, before the video was shot, the farmer has really tried to commit suicide because his crop of chilly had withered away due to lack of water. A local alerted the media about the man’s plan to burn his crop and kill himself, but some villagers had already foiled the farmer’s suicide bid by the time electronic media persons reached the spot.

In order to get TRP for their channels, media persons allegedly made the farmer enact the scene of his attempted suicide and asked him to pretend as if he is about to consume pesticide.

Other farmers were asked to pretend like they were stopping him from dying. In the video, people can be heard speaking in Kannada and a cameraman even shows the farmer how to hold the bottle of pesticide.
