Anantapur: Anantapur SP K.K.N. Anburajan on Friday punished a sub-inspector, three head constables and five constables with vacancy reserve for allegedly colluding with matka organisers in the district.
The SP also ordered a detailed enquiry by a sub-divisional officer into the matter.
“No one in the department will be spared if they are involved in supporting anti-social activities,” he told DC.
The staff put under vacancy reserve belong to Guntakal and Kalyanadurgam divisions.
The SP asked people to inform him round the clock about the problems they are facing, including failure of staff.
In Kadapa district, SP Siddarth Kowsal suspended constable B. Narasimha Reddy and home guard G. Ravi Kumar of Pulivendula over allegations that they extorted money from a person while on duty. The SP said serious action will be taken against those who tarnish the image of police department.
